Will One Direction meet? The Bc Directioners are ready and waiting

The group may have officially split five years ago, but the One Direction fan base is still alive and well – and in desperate need of a reunion. Well, it looks like former bandmate Liam Payne got the memo because he recently dropped a * major * hint that something might be in the works. But does that really mean the One Direction will reunite in 2021? Or are we excited for nothing? It’s time to piece together the puzzle of these reunion rumors.

January 2020: the first mention of an anniversary project

Hardcore fans will know that One Direction celebrated its tenth anniversary in July 2020. According to reports at the time, Payne was quoted in a Tumblr post as talking about “a documentary around a birthday ” during an event to promote his album LP1. While nothing has come to fruition, it has certainly planted the seed in the minds of fans.

March 2020: Harry reschedules his tour

Harry Styles has enjoyed great success since leaving One Direction, and in 2020 the “Kiwi” singer was set to begin a 26-date tour across Europe in the summer of 2020. However, in March he, he announced that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Love on tour should be postponed until 2021. Some hopeful Directioners have commented optimistically that this move might have freed up time in Styles’ schedule for a more… collaborative project, perhaps? Again, nothing happened, but the rumor mill picked up.

April 2020: Liam drops a big clue

While some of the boys have already spoken about their desire to get back together, it wasn’t until Payne appeared on James Corden’s chat show in April 2020 that we got the biggest clue of 2020. In response to a question about a possible reunion, Payne said: “I don’t have the right to say too much obviously, because I would, but we are talking a lot more right now.” He also added: “I think we all think these ten years[s] is a very special moment. “

April 2020: Liam drops another major clue

Payne once again teased fans in an interview on April 19, 2020 when he took to Instagram Live with DJ Alesso following the release of their new single “Midnight”. Although initially set up to discuss the new music, it was no surprise that fans were hungry for more news about the 1D reunion.

“Oh my god man… there are so many questions about One Direction,” Alesso said, reading the comments as they appeared. “But I feel like I don’t want to embarrass you because I know there isn’t much you can say.” Payne went on to reveal that he and Niall Horan had faced off face to face and that they had all tried to organize a FaceTime group given that they were mostly all in London at the moment.

“I can’t say too much about it. Louis berated me for revealing our plans the other day, so you’re going to have the group chat berating me, ”Payne told Alesso. So it looks like the 1D meeting is somewhat formal, just lacking in deets.

He also has vaguely mentioned Zayn Malik’s involvement (or lack thereof), saying that Alesso could “come in and replace Zayn and join the group.” It looked like Malik wouldn’t be part of the reunion after all, but time will tell.

May 2021: Niall steps in

Sadly, 2021 has been a bit quiet on the reunion news front, and some things we’ve heard haven’t been so positive. For example, in May 2021 the Jonathan Ross Show, Horan explained that he would not be ready to reunite “unless everyone is completely in it”, and all “to have the same opinion on this would be difficult.

“I don’t know… nobody really talks about it,” he added. “There are a few little babies from them guys. Each has its own success. I enjoy what I do.

He didn’t kill all of our dreams though, ending, “Of course if everyone wanted to do it, I’d be willing to do it … you kind of have to all get in the same room and chat, but I don’t. I don’t know when it would be… “

September 2021: Liam renews hope

Do not be afraid ; Payne is back to give the situation some much needed hope. In an interview with The mirror, the singer revealed that he recently spoke to Louis about the reunion once again, and the two agreed it should happen “as soon as possible”. Fingers crossed …
