UAMS is now full after increase in COVID-19 cases

UAMS Chancellor Dr Cam Patterson took to Twitter on Saturday to share that the hospital has reached capacity, in part thanks to more than 50 COVID-19 patients. It comes just a day after the Arkansas Department of Health reported 1,342 new cases of COVID-19 in Arkansas. Patterson tweeted: “The @uamshealth hospital is full. The number of COVID-19 is increasing every day. We are employing inpatients in the emergency room and the recovery room. No space for transfers. Lack of caregivers. Support healthcare workers. Mask yourself. Get vaxxed “In a follow-up tweet, Dr Patterson said:” 51 COVID admissions confirmed internally, 19 in intensive care, 13 on vents, rest on the floor, 4 on ecmo, 2 on ecmo watch, 1 new death. ”The Arkansas Department of Health is no longer providing COVID-19 updates throughout the weekend, but ADH has reported more than 5,700 new cases of COVID-19 since July 12.
