Tinder gives daters another chance to chat briefly before swiping right

Tinder gives users the option to briefly chat with potential mates before matching as part of new ways to improve the online dating experience.

Until now, communication wasn’t possible until the two singles swiped right – the app’s famous approach to showing interest in a person’s profile – unless someone ‘one has not paid for a Platinum subscription.

Hot Takes is designed to give people a chance to speak in a “low-stakes session,” social experience, Tinder said.

The feature, which will run daily from 6 p.m. to midnight, acts like an ice-breaking “question-answer-based live chat game with someone new” allowing “loving jokes” to take place. a person’s first impression and test for compatibility.

A timer will count down, giving the user the option of deciding whether to respond or let it time out and move on to someone else.

Tinder chief executive Jim Lanzone said the improvements were being introduced as a new generation of daters demand more in the post-Covid world.

People want “more ways to show their authentic identities, more ways to have fun and interact virtually with others, and more control over who they meet on Tinder and how they communicate,” he said. Explain.

“They also want to date in a less linear fashion, at their own pace and in the hope that sparks can fly with someone unexpected.

“Today’s launch lays the foundation for all of this and more – a deeper, multidimensional experience that expands the possibilities of Tinder as a platform.”

Other changes being rolled out include the ability for users to add videos to their profiles, as well as a space to meet people with similar interests.

Hot Takes and other in-app events will be available in a new Explorer section when it launches later this summer.
