Moose caught on security camera in East Fishkill, NY

Can we unofficially call this moose the mascot of Dutchess County? Do we already have one? While we understand this…

For about a week now there has been what is believed to be 1 moose, exploring the Hudson Valley. Specifically, Dutchess County in the East Fishkill region. Early last week, a moose made headlines when it was filmed running amok in the parking lot of a Danbury cinema.

A day after this break-in, another moose was spotted in Pawling. Beautiful photos captured the majestic animal strolling through a field at sunset which started popping up all over Facebook.

On Thursday, reports emerged that the moose had been spotted in East Fishkill near Palen Road. A Wappingers Central School District bus driver reported the moose sighting and even called it to his garage.

Later Friday, we received security camera photos of the moose. Joanne Coffey Burns shared her security camera footage to the East Fishkill Community Facebook group and tells us the moose came across her driveway around 3am on Friday, September 30.

Joanne’s backyard is used to wildlife like black bears and coyotes stopping by for a visit. Coffey Burns tells us that in April, they caught a black bear on the security camera crossing their driveway.

On Sunday, October 2, a member of the East Fishkill Community Group caught another moose (possibly the same moose) on a trail camera in the Cold Spring/Garrison area.

Have you seen the moose? Where and when? Let us know as we track the moose through the Hudson Valley!

A Danbury resident has an amazing encounter with the famous moose

His name is Daryl Pitman, and he is a Danbury resident who recently had a very close encounter with a moose that has become famous in the Greater Danbury area. Over the past few days this moose has been seen in several locations in Danbury, he has been seen in Newtown, New Fairfield, Woodbury and even Pawling, NY to name a few.

I saw Daryl’s pics in a different moose-related thread and contacted him. I asked him to tell me more. I wanted to know if these photos were real? Did he take the pictures? Was it at Danbury? When was it? How did he feel. An excited Daryl wrote back to me with the following responses.
