George Clooney and Julia Roberts have shared new details about their friendship, including why they never dated.
Clooney, 61, and Roberts, 54, appeared in an interview with Go to Hollywood which dropped on Wednesday before the release of their next film, ticket to paradise.
During their chat, host Kit Hoover asked the co-stars some quick questions about their longtime connection.
Asked about their first impressions of each other, Clooney said Roberts “made me laugh” and Roberts called him “sweet”. The stars were then asked what quality they most admire in each other – Clooney praised her co-star’s “kindness” and Roberts said she respected her “fortitude”.
Hoover then posed a question that many fans of both have been asking for years: “Did you ever have a no-dating policy back then… Years and years ago before you were never in a relationship?”
Roberts replied, “For not dating? I don’t think we need to say that!”
Clooney provided more context on why they never took things “to a different level.”
According to the actor, “Julia has always been in a relationship, or I was in a relationship. And we were friends right away. So it was nothing, but it was just fun for us. So, I don’t think that was ever really a thing.”
