Florida man sentenced to life for murdering parents, siblings over camgirl obsession

The youngest of three brothers ended the life of his whole family after trying to end his obsession with a Bulgarian cam girl. Grant Amato, 32, shot dead his parents Chad Amato and Margaret Amato as well as his older brother and Cody Amato. He was found and arrested by police after he fled. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Grant and Cody from Chuluota, Fla., Were training nurses. The two brothers were extremely close and shared many common interests. This did not stop the younger brother from slaughtering his older brother with their parents.

The younger brother’s behavior had started to trouble the family since June 2018. Grant had failed anesthesiology school. He had been accused by his employers of improperly administering medication to a patient and of stealing medication. Although the charges were later dropped, the incident affected his mental health, Cinephiles reported.

During unemployment, the man began to spend more and more time on the Internet. His family thought he was playing and broadcasting live. Grant had spent his time and money on a Bulgarian cam girl named Silvie. At the site where he met the woman, he had to pay large sums of money per minute to monitor her.

The site had a token system for its viewers. Grant reportedly used to buy 5,000 tokens at a time, which cost $ 600, The Daily Star reported. Silvie’s chat room costs 90 tokes per minute. The obsessed man was spending $ 2,500 a night on the site. To finance his obsession, he began to steal from his family and loved ones. He stole around $ 200,000 from his relatives.

Grant’s family eventually sent him to rehab, but he returned after a few days. He went back on the clause according to which he would reduce contact with Silvie. Yet he continued to communicate with her.

On January 24, 2019, Chad decided to throw his adult son out of the house. Instead of leaving Grant shot his family. He first shot his mother in the head while she was working on her computer. He waited for his father to come home. He shot his father twice in the head. He then shot Cody as he entered through the front door.

He fled but was later found and questioned by the police. He told the police that he was not at home when the shots were fired. He was finally found guilty in August 2019 for the three murdered and sentenced to life in prison without parole.
