rookie quarterback Davis Mills had a poor performance on his second start instead of the injured Tyrod taylor, ending Sunday’s loss to Buffalo 11 of 21 with 87 yards with four touchdowns. He was also sacked three times and groped once, although he got it back.
Texans still have Deshaun Watson on their roster, although it’s clear he won’t play another game for the team. And Jeff Driskel is on the team’s practice squad.
But via Brooks Kubena from Houston Chronicle, the Texans are expected to stay with Mills until Taylor returns.
When head coach David Culley was asked on Monday if Houston was looking to sign another QB, Culley said: “Not at this moment. “
Still, Culley noted Mills needs to do a better job of limiting turnovers.
“We have to have this out of that position,” Culley said.
Taylor is eligible to come out of the injured reserve next week. His recovery schedule was initially four weeks, which would mean he would be out for another week after he was able to return. Culley said on Monday he hoped to have Taylor “back here within the next two weeks.”
