Chennai: Police catch rowdy caught by camera threatening cop | Chennai News

CHENNAI: Police arrested a story sheet on Tuesday for causing a ruckus and threatening a policeman at the Abiramapuram police station.
An officer said ‘Pitchai’ Karthik from Abhiramapuram broke into the police station on Monday and threatened Officer Dinesh, who was at the reception and on guard, with a blade. The thug warned that he would kill him when he got out of the station and also threatened to eliminate him if he ever came to his locality. His threats were peppered with abuse, and a video of the entire incident went viral on WhatsApp.
Another policeman at the scene tried to appease Karthik and the accused told the officer that he knew many policemen attached to the station and that they were like brothers to him. He then managed to escape from the station.
Karthik was eventually caught in a hiding place in Abiramapuram. He was also arrested on the basis of a complaint from a woman named Ammu who accused him of breaking into his house and ransacking his property. Karthik was brought before a district court and sent to jail on Tuesday.
Karthik was known to often hide a blade in his mouth and threaten people to part with their valuables. He even tried to injure himself when a police team attempted to apprehend him.
