Battlefield 2042’s First New Content Delayed Until Summer

(Pocket-lint) – EA and Dice have announced that the first season of new content coming to Battlefield 2042 will be delayed to “early summer”, to free up more development time to address issues with the game and bring functionality to this is what the community has been asking aloud.

The delay isn’t entirely final, since we didn’t have a launch date for the new content in the first place. This content was expected to arrive in early March and is now unlikely to appear until May at the earliest.

In one blog post accompanying the news, which was released shortly before EA’s quarterly earnings call to investors, the Battlefield team says it will review how it communicates with players to ensure updates Frequent updates are posted on upcoming changes and adjustments.

This follows a roughly six-week period in which there were very few updates on what to expect. This will, in theory, begin when the next game update changes the dashboard layout. Other upcoming changes include the arrival of in-game voice chat and a more detailed player profile system.

Those who purchased access to the Year One Pass as part of a deluxe edition of the game will receive a small content pack of in-game cosmetics as an apology for the delay, the post also confirms. Whether enough changes can help the game bring back some of the many players it has lost remains to be seen.
