This may be bad news for most WhatsApp users, but Google may switch some mobile app users to a limited storage plan.

Google currently offers unlimited storage for WhatsApp backup chats. Saving WhatsApp chat backups to Google Drive is one of the easiest and most efficient ways for WhatsApp users to switch phones and keep old messages and chats.

With this option, users can exclude specific media to include in the next backup.

According to WABetaInfo, the feature is under development and will be available in a future update.

“Unfortunately, the release date is unknown but we are closely monitoring the development of the feature and will keep you posted as usual,” he said in a report.

He added that there may be a different context as to why WhatsApp is developing this feature.

It is important to note that WhatsApp backups are not counted against the Google Drive storage quota under an agreement between the two companies.

Unfortunately, according to the post, there is a good chance that WhatsApp backups on Google Drive will partially count again and WhatsApp plans to offer a few options to manage the size of the backup.

“Google might stop offering unlimited storage for WhatsApp backups, but they will move to a limited plan (2000MB per user),” WABetainfo said.

“This new plan has not yet been announced and everything could change in the coming weeks, but it is the idea around the new way to store WhatsApp backups on Google Drive,” he added.

“Note that we prefer to mark this news as a rumor since nothing has been announced publicly, but this is what we learned after studying the feature and it is not to be ruled out: Google Photos has ceased to offer unlimited storage a few months ago “.
